Investor-Owned Utilities
SCE
Energy$mart Thermostat™ Program (SCE):
Initiated by the California Energy Commission as a load management pilot program,
this SCE program encouraged small businesses to save energy with a free programmable
thermostat and financial incentives.
Geltz Communications provided a comprehensive,
community-based outreach and marketing plan to cities in the arid, energy-use
intensive Coachella Valley.
Savings
By Design Program (SCE, PG&E, SDG&E): Ideally, energy efficiency starts
from the ground up. This statewide California program encourages energy efficiency
at the design stage by providing resources and incentives to designers and developers
of commercial new construction.
Geltz Communications deliverables
include a Web site (www.savingsbydesign.com)
featuring complete program description and utility contacts, marketing materials,
calls for entries, submittal binders and a winners' announcement brochure for
the program's design awards, co-sponsored by the American Institute of Architects.
Energy
Design Resources Program (SCE, PG&E, SDG&E, SCG): This California utilities
program promotes energy efficient design practices in the commercial community
of architects, engineers, lighting designers, developers, builders and operators.
Geltz Communications deliverables
include an electronic
newsletter, printed resource tools, CD-ROMS, and Web site applications at
www.energydesignresources.com.
Showcasing
Energy Efficiency (SCE): The Design & Engineering Services Unit at SCE
provides technical and economic analysis to foster the use of energy technologies
by SCE customers. Geltz gathers the results into concise, engaging fact
sheets that inform these customers about ways to bring energy-efficient
solutions to their operations.
Comfort
Home/Comfort Wise Program (SCE, PG&E, SDG&E): What are the features and
benefits of energy efficient homes? Prior to Geltz Communications training,
builder sales agents for residential new construction could not answer this
question.
After Geltz promoted energy efficiency
to them and educated the agents, the story changed. In 1999, the program increased
knowledge of participating agents in the PG&E service area by 70%. In the SCE
service area, agent knowledge increased by 86%.
Clean Profits
Program (SoCalGas): With long hours of operation and heavy dependence
on natural gas appliances, Southern California dry cleaners and coin-operated
Laundromats were a perfect target for energy efficiency programs. The Geltz
team developed the training course and marketing tools and strategies for this
SCG energy efficiency program.
Thanks to a strategy and partnership
developed by Geltz, trade associations have been successful allies in promoting
the concept of energy efficiency and in enrolling business owners in training
seminars.
Deliverables include training materials,
marketing materials, site audits, and a Web site.
