Geltz Communications Recognized for Innovative Energy Program Marketing

Pasadena, Calif. – January 14, 2003: Continuing its tradition of providing effective communications for the energy services industry, Pasadena-based Geltz Communications has won the 2002 Achievement in Innovative Marketing Approach Award from the Association of Energy Services Professionals International. Christine Geltz, Principal, accepted the honors on behalf of the company at the 13th Annual National Energy Services Conference in Tucson, Ariz.

The award recognizes the innovative program marketing that Geltz Communications provided to Southern California Edison (SCE), co-winner of this honor, for its SCE Energy$mart ThermostatSM (E$T) Program. E$T is a pilot program that targets small businesses to determine how they can reduce their energy usage during “emergency periods” times and still maintain the services necessary to stay in operation. The program is one of several that Geltz markets for energy companies in California.

“We were pleased to help SCE reach out to small business customers for this program,” Ms. Geltz noted. “By augmenting SCE’s efforts in working through community-based organizations, this program will help customers find ways to fight the next energy crisis without having to face high prices, power outages or lost business revenues.”

Geltz was recognized for their efforts in developing collaborative relationships for program marketing specifically with property managers and trade associations throughout Southern California and city agencies in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area). This outreach helped to effectively deliver the program to the traditionally “hard to reach” commercial small business and non-profit customers in the targeted urban and rural areas in the short time frame required for program testing during the summer of 2002.
